William Paterson University Theatre to Present “The Dining Room” from April 16 to 21
“The Dining Room,” a play by A.R. Gurney, will be performed at William Paterson University in Wayne from April 16 to 21 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus.
“The Dining Room” is a comedy set in one generic dining room but represents many. It serves as a metaphor for the transition into a world focused on progress, rather than tradition. Overlapping stories revolve around the short-lived culture of upper-middle class Americans and each scene introduces new families and personalities. Though some characters are satirical, all possess a desire to find a sense of stability and comfort in their culture. The production will be directed by Jerry Beal, William Paterson professor of communication.
Performances of “The Dining Room” are scheduled on April 16 to 20 at 7 p.m. and April 21 at 3 p.m. There will also be second show on April 19 at 11 a.m. Tickets are $14 general and $10 for senior citizens, students and William Paterson faculty, staff and alumni.
