William Paterson University Financial Planning Students Organize Career Fair to be Held February 24 on Campus
William Paterson University will hold a student-organized Financial Planning Career Fair on Thursday, February 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, geared to the students in one of the fastest-growing fields in finance, will be held in the University’s 1600 Valley Road Building in Wayne. Fifteen firms are scheduled to discuss jobs and internships with University students specializing in financial planning at William Paterson’s Cotsakos College of Business.
Student leaders of the Financial Planning Club approached Lukas Dean, coordinator of William Paterson’s financial planning program, to organize a career fair that would enhance student opportunities for internships and employment. Nick Scheibner of Stanhope, a senior, and Carson Bidawid of West Chester, Penn., a junior, called on businesses to sponsor a booth. Scheibner was one of three William Paterson financial planning students who won the first-place award in the 2010 National Financial Planning Challenge sponsored by the National Financial Planning Association.
Firms attending the career fair include Baron Financial Group and Stonegate Wealth Managers of Fair Lawn; The Ayco Company, L.P., a Goldman Sachs Company; Hogan-Knotts of Red Bank; Sterling Wealth Mgmt of Sparta; Trovena of Roseland; Macro Consulting Group of Parsippany; Ameriprise; LPL Financial; Prudential and MetLife.
William Paterson University offers a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in financial planning. Students who complete the degree are qualified to sit for the Certified Financial Planners® board exam. It also hosts the first registered student chapter of the Financial Planning Association in the United States.
