William Paterson University Theatre to Present “Speaking In Tongues” from October 23 to 28

“Speaking in Tongues” by Andrew Bovell will be performed at William Paterson University in Wayne from October 23 to 28 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus.

“Speaking in Tongues” is a play following nine parallel lives that are connected through infidelity and mystery. Four actors will take the stage as a different role in each act. The play is surprising and suspenseful with a plot that includes loss, a disappearance and deception. “Speaking in Tongues” was later adapted into a film called “Lantana.”

The play will be directed by William Paterson Professor Jerry Beal. With credits as an actor, teacher and director, Beal’s work has ranged from classical and contemporary shows to musical productions that have been staged in New York and other regional theatres. In addition, Beal is a regular guest essayist for ArtsinLa.com and is currently featured in the new issue of The Sondheim Review.

“Speaking in Tongues” will be performed from October 23-27 at 7 p.m., October 26 at 11 a.m. and October 28 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 general and $10 for senior citizens and William Paterson alumni, faculty and staff.
