The Mathematics Endorsement Program

What is it?

The Mathematics Endorsement Program of William Paterson University is a 30 credit comprehensive program of post-baccalaureate mathematics courses that meet the NJ State endorsement requirements

Who would be interested?

Students Dave, Dan and Lisa

Anyone interested in becoming a mathematics teacher, those wishing to receive either 5-8 certifictation or K-12 math certification, and certified teachers wishing to expand their knowledge of mathematics.

Courses in the program are also suitable for those teachers who wish to become highly qualified and upgrade their mathematics knowledge for the NJ  program.

All of these courses carry 3 graduate credits and are offered in rotation in the evenings (4:45 pm-7:15 pm) once a week.  Some of these courses are also offered in the summer and online

What is special about the program?

The program emphasizes three important areas:

  • it presents the mathematical theory within the context of modern applications
  • it uses technology throughout the program to develop and expand concepts as well as applications
  • it is designed using the NCTM standards.
Faculty in the Program

Admission Criteria

  1. Prof. Eastman and studentsA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended
  2. A standard New Jersey teaching certificate, or an interview with the program coordinator to discuss alternate possibilities.
  3. An overall undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 point scale, or an interview with the program coordinator to discuss alternate possibilities.
