Marcelo Llarull Scholarship Fund

In loving memory of our dear colleague Professor Marcelo Llarull, we are offering a scholarship which will be awarded to a math major every year.  The details are as follows:

 

Who is eligible?     A senior mathematics major who has completed at least 25 credits in the major with a major GPA of 3.0 or higher.  In addition to academic excellence, recipient of the scholarship must have a proven record of service to the department such as tutoring at the Mathematics Learning Center, active participation in the Math Club, Math Fair, Math Awareness Week, presentation of a talk or poster at a mathematics conference etc.

 

When will it be given? The scholarship will be given every academic year at the beginning of the Fall semester.

 

What is the amount? The scholarship amount will be $1000 and it will be given from the Marcelo Llarull Scholarship Fund set-up at William Paterson University.

 

Who will decide the recipient?  How?   Every Spring semester, eligible mathematics majors (who have completed 25 credits in the major) can apply for the scholarship by filling out the “Marcelo Llarull Scholarship Application Form”. The Mathematics Department Council will select the recipient of this scholarship from the applicant pool. The decision will be made by the end of the Spring semester for the following academic year.
