- Sage Premier E-Journal Collection (Sage Journals Online)
- Our newest e-journal collection adds approximately 400 new online journals to the Library's existing collection from Sage Publications, one of the leading academic publishers. The Sage Premier E-Journal Collection features the full-text contents of hundreds of major journals in the fields of business, education, health, the humanities, and the social sciences. Over 140,000 articles are currently available through the collection, with backfiles extending to 1999 for all titles. The articles will be accessible through citation links in all of our research databases. Sage's online portal supports searching and browsing of the entire collection, and through the registration of a free personal account you can also create customized search alerts, citation tracking alerts, and table of contents alerts for your favorite journals. Each journal also provides table of contents feeds through RSS [what is RSS?]. A complete list of titles (PDF format - 60 KB) in the Sage Premier E-Journal Collection is available. [09/18/07]
- Biography Reference Bank
- We've upgraded our major biographical database from H. W. Wilson to add more coverage and more full-text content. The Biography Reference Bank contains the complete contents of Wilson's Biography Index from 1984 to the present and covers over 500,000 people from all periods of history to the present time. Thousands of full-text narrative profiles are drawn from major publishers including Greenwood Press, Harvard University Press, Houghton Mifflin, Oryx, Oxford University Press, and others, and the citation records include links to over 380,000 related full-text articles from Wilson databases and other sources. Among the publications accessible through Biography Reference Bank are biographical profiles, feature articles, interviews, essays, book reviews, performance reviews, speeches, and obituaries. The database also features over 36,000 images of profiled subjects and excerpts from book reivews. The easy-to-use search screen supports searching by name, profession, place of origin, gender, ethnicity, birth/death dates, titles of works, and keyword. [09/17/07]
- Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
- A standard work of biographical reference since the first edition was published between 1885 and 1900, the Dictionary of National Biography has been completely updated in a new 60-volume print edition [Call Number: REF DA28.O95], and the entire work is now also available online for easy searching and browsing. The Dictionary contains over 55,000 biographical essays covering the lives of (deceased) individuals who played notable roles in the history of the British Isles and the British Empire, from earliest times to the present. Some 10,000 contributors, including distinguished scholars in every field, provided the high-quality essays in the Dictionary. Entries range in length from a few paragraphs to 35,000 words, and most also include useful bibliographies of primary and secondary sources for further research. - Google Scholar (Full-Text @ Cheng Library)
- If you like searching for published research on the web using the popular search engine Google, you can now take advantage of access to the Cheng Library's subscription journals through links in Google Scholar. To use this feature, you must access Google Scholar through the Library's web site. After you conduct a search, look for the "Full-Text @ Cheng Library" links in your result list - clicking on these links will run a check for a selected article against our online subscriptions. If the Library provides full-text access to the article, it's yours. [09/06/06]
- CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health) - Now Enhanced with with Full Text!
- Our leading research database for nursing and allied health is now more useful than ever with the addition of full-text content from 364 journals, including 107 journals new to the Library's collection and six journals previously available only in print. [08/30/06]
- Film & Television Literature Index
- The Film & Television Literature Index is a bibliographic database covering scholarship, reviews, and other writings in the field of film and television. The database features citations and abstracts to articles from over 350 publications, including over 50 peer-reviewed journals and a variety of other periodicals. Coverage extends to 1988. Links to full-text articles available from the Library's e-journals collection are also accessible through the database. The Film & Television Literature Index is a great tool for any student assignment or research project dealing with topics in film or television. [08/30/06]
- PAIS International (with PAIS Archive)
- The PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) International database contains almost two million references to journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, microfiche, Internet material, and other materials covering the broad field of public affairs, pulic and social policy, and international relations. The database indexes materials from over 120 countries, including items published in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, and it features sophisticated searching capabilities that support searching on 21 indexed fields. Our access includes the complete PAIS archive, spanning the period from 1915 to the present. Of special interest for indexing materials not easily found in other sources, PAIS International is a valuable resource for all students of politics, public and social policy, and international relations. - Book Index with Reviews Extended Trial Access Through June 30, 2007
- Book Index with Reviews (BIR) is a comprehensive database that provides information on over 3.8 million current and forthcoming book titles in a wide range of formats, including large print, books on tape, etc. Fiction and non-fiction titles for juvenile and adult audiences are included in the database, in all genres. The product contains over 800,000 full-text searchable reviews from established review sources. [08/08/06]
- World Book Online Reference Center
- The online version of the World Book Encyclopedia features the full content of the encyclopedia, with regular updates and new materials provided by the editors. Through the web you can also access dynamic visual and multimedia content including maps, pictures, sounds, and video. A dictionary is also provided, and the site is customized for New Jersey users, with links to New Jersey curriculum correlations and lesson plans, and a guide to New Jersey information resources. - SpringerLink E-Journals Collection
- Over 1,350 full-text scholarly journals in a variety of disciplines including behavioral sciences, biomedical and life sciences, business and economics, chemistry and materials science, computer science, earth and environmental science, engineering, humanities, social sciences and law, mathematics, medicine, physics and astronomy. Springer is the worlds second-largest specialist publishing group in the science, technology, and medicine sector and currently publishes over 1,500 leading journals in its major disciplinary areas. - World Shakespeare Bibliography
- This bibliographic database provides annotated entries for all important books, articles, book reviews, dissertations, theatrical productions, reviews of productions, audiovisual materials, electronic media, and other scholarly and popular materials related to Shakespeare and published or produced between 1964 and the present. The scope is international, with coverage extending to more than 118 languages and representing every country in North America, South America, and Europe, and nearly every country in Asia, Africa, and Australasia. The more than 103,000 records cite several hundred thousand additional reviews of books, productions, films, and audio recordings. [7/11/05]
- Conference Board Research Online Collection
- The Conference Board's Research Online Collection is a database of full-text research reports and presentations on topical business issues. Included are surveys and case studies of major companies and trends in the areas of strategy, corporate governance, organizational effectiveness, structure, leadership, human resources, ethics, customer relationship management, work force issues, and much more. The database also features working papers in economic research, current news on economic indicators and the monthly publication Straight Talk. The full collection, with backfiles to 1998, can be searched or browsed, and most publications are in PDF format. [6/18/05]
- ReferenceUSA
- ReferenceUSA provides detailed, current directory information on more than 12 million U.S. businesses, 102 million U.S. residents, 683,000 U.S. health care providers, 1 million Canadian businesses, and 11 million Canadian residents. Special features of the detailed directory listings for businesses include linkages (connecting parent and subsidiary companies), Fortune 1000 rankings, most recent annual sales figures, credit rating codes, exchange listings, links to EDGAR financial information and company web sites, applicable SIC/NAICS codes, listings of key officers, plus the ability to identify nearby or related businesses up to a 20-mile distance. Business searches can be customized with up to 24 different criteria, resulting in a powerful tool for compiling useful lists. Access provided through the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative program.
