NJIN Board Approves Formation of Working Structure for VALE Project

Virtual Academic Library Environment (VALE)

Dateline: Wayne, NJ: -At its meeting on April 25, NJIN Executive Board members gave tentative approval for the formation of a VALE Task Force chaired by Dr. John Gaboury, Assistant Vice President for Library Services and Information Technology at William Paterson College. The Task Force, which will oversee the work of several other workgroups, will include one or two college presidents, personnel from interested corporations, and representatives from libraries around the state. Several other workgroups also will be convened, charged with creating a portion of the VALE Action Plan. Dr. Gaboury announced that he will be contacting volunteers and others to serve on the VALE Task Force and to chair the workgroups. He explained that the new time frame will require workgroups to convene in June and to produce final working drafts of the Action Plan by September. Organizers of the Higher Education Technology Bond issue anticipate that a consultant who will be retained to review institutional technology plans will also review the VALE Action Plan. The full NJIN Board is expected to approve the VALE working structure via email in the next few days.
