Ask A Reference Question!
What is it?
E-mail Reference Service is provided to answer questions commonly asked at the Reference Desk,
such as questions regarding library services, addresses, phone numbers, definitions, and other
"ready reference" inquires. We cannot provide in-depth reference with this service, and prefer to
discuss such questions in person.
Who can use it?
This service is primarily for members of the William Paterson University Community: students, faculty, staff, employees;
but we will also extend service to the surrounding communities.
When to expect a response?
You will receive a response within 48 hours, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and periods
of restricted hours (such as during the summer). Questions requiring more in-depth research will
be referred to the appropriate subject specialist, who will contact you directly. A referral may
cause a slight delay in response time.
How to Submit a Question?
If you have a reference question that fits our criteria and you are included in our "Who can use it?"
list, follow the link below to electronically submit your question. Please include your full name,
e-mail address, and telephone number so that we will be certain to be able to reply.
If you do not include a valid e-mail address or a telephone number, you will not receive a response!
