Between the Lions
The Between the Lions site, connected to the television program of the same name, helps to get kids excited about reading by providing stories, games, and things to print on its site. Children who love the lions can read about them by browsing through a variety of interactive activities about the characters and picture book stories.

Big Book Collection Bibliography
The Cheng Library's Big Book collection contains more than 100 oversized picture books. Each book has a teaching guide with suggestions for lesson planning. The Big Book collection was originally purchased with a grant from the William Paterson University Alumni Association. Big Books may be borrowed for 28 days.

International Reading Association (IRA)
The International Reading Association is a professional association dedicated to promoting literacy by improving the quality of reading instruction, disseminating literacy research and information, and "encouraging the lifetime reading habit."

Literature and Language Arts Bibliography

Modern Language Association (MLA)
Founded in 1883, the Modern Language Association of America works to strengthen the study and teaching of language and literature, in both English and foreign languages. The MLA publishes books, pamphlets, a comprehensive international bibliography, and style guidelines.

National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)
The National Council of Teachers of English is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts. NCTE provides opportunities for teachers to continue their professional growth and a framework for dealing with issues that affect the teaching of English.

Reading Rainbow
Reading Rainbow booklists, contests, teacher materials, and details of national reading programs are included to help "open books and open minds."
