Curriculum Guides

What is a Curriculum Guide?

A curriculum guide, also known as a course of study, is usually produced by a school district to guide K-12 teachers in curriculum planning and implementation. Although there are no standard rules for content, a curriculum guide usually contains:

  • Instructional objectives
  • Suggested teaching activities
  • Assessment methods
  • State standards

The Curriculum Guide Collections

The New Jersey Curriculum Guide Collection (Print)
Available in the Curriculum Materials Center, the New Jersey collection has curricula from school districts throughout the state of New Jersey. They are arranged by subject in file cabinets in the Curriculum Materials Center.

If looking for curricula from a particular school district, check the New Jersey Curriculum Guides (Print) list. This list is arranged by the name of the school district and identifies the curriculum guides available in print in the Curriculum Materials Center. Check the New Jersey Curriculum Guides Online directory to see if a school district has its curriculum guides available on the web.
Kraus Curriculum Development Library (kcdlonline)
A searchable database of curricula, frameworks and standards from throughout the United States and Canada. This collection includes documents from 1983 until the present. Recent documents are available in full-text online, while documents published before 2000 are available on microfiche from the Periodicals Department.
