Thursday March 1st 2012- Banner & WPconnect system maintenance - Sunday 3/4 12PM - 6PM
Please be advised that the Banner system (both INB and Self-Service Banner) will be unavailable on Sunday March 4th from 12PM - 6PM while system maintenance is performed.
During this timeframe, WPconnect will also be unavailable for login. The WPconnect home page will be updated to provide direct links to critical systems including Blackboard and email.

Phishing ALERT
Please be aware that our campus email users are once again being sent phishing messages.
It is extremely important that users are more aware of the possibility of being "tricked" into responding to or clicking on a link in a phishing message. There are numerous repercussions to our entire email system when a user responds to a phishing message.
We continue to monitor and implement solutions to try and avoid this. In the end no solution would work better than users not giving out a username and password.
Do NOT click on the included link. Do NOT attempt to login.
William Paterson University’s Information Systems department will NEVER send you an email asking you to:
- “Increase your Mailbox store” by clicking on a link
- “Re-validate your account” by clicking on a link
- “Confirm your identity/profile” by clicking on a link
Friday December 9th- Storage system maintenance - Sat 12/17 9AM - 12 Noon
Information Systems has scheduled maintenance for the university's central data storage system on Saturday December 17th from 9AM to 12 Noon.
Brief interruptions in access to systems including Blackboard and Faculty/Staff email are possible - but considered highly unlikely - during this timeframe. Based on the results of prior testing, expectations are that there will be no service interruption.

December 6, 2011- WPconnect Services Unavailable Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm
This evening - December 6th - from 8:30pm to 9:30pm access to login for WPconnect will be unavailable. The log in page will display alternate links to critical services such as Blackboard and Email.

December 1, 2011- Phishing Alert
Multiple WPU users responded to phishing messages this week. It is extremely important that users are more aware of the possibility of being "tricked" into responding to or clicking on a link in a phishing message. The message we are attempting to convey here is simple – if you receive an email asking for you to login to a site, it’s always best to absolutely confirm the authenticity of the sender and/or site before you enter your login information. This message isn’t specific to WPUNJ – it’s a primary rule of safe internet browsing.
As has been stated in the past, if you accidently clicked on the link included in the phishing email and entered your login information, please contact the Helpdesk immediately at HELP@wpunj.edu or (973) 720-4357.
Friday November 11th, 2011- Intermittent Service Interruption - Now Resolved
Starting at approximately 4:20PM on Friday November 11th, members of the University community may have experienced intermittent interruptions in access to University resources from either on or off-campus. Campus systems, including the University website, WPconnect, Blackboard, Faculty/Staff email, and Self-Service Banner, were impacted in the form of slower than normal response times. Outbound internet connectivity from the campus was not impacted.
Investigation of the incident began immediately and identified the source of the issue as an improperly functioning network security device. At that time, the faulty device was removed from service and vendor support was contacted for follow-up.
Access to all systems was fully restored to normal operation as of 5:15PM.
We apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this interruption.

Brian FanningInformation SystemsFriday October 21st 2011- A Redesigned WPconnect - Coming Later Today!
We're excited to announce a newly redesigned WPconnect will be introduced later this afternoon with a brand new look that will be representative of today's William Paterson University.
Today's changes will be primarily visual in nature with all existing functionality and content remaining intact. Over the course of the next few months, we will introduce additional visual, content, and functionality enhancements, all intended to enhance your WPconnect experience.
Please note: when signing into the new-look site for the first time, some individuals may need to refresh their web browser once (press the F5 key) for the WPconnect tabs to display properly.
One major change to be aware of: WPconnect will now require a mandatory password change for any individual using their WPUNJ ID number as their password. This security enhancement will enable the university to introduce several new online applications - one example being an online FERPA Waiver form - developed in replacement of current paper-based processes.
As always, we are mindful of security and have included previews of the new WPconnect login page and password change prompt for your review.

At 4:00 p.m. on Aug. 17, we began receiving reports that students were unable to access WPUNJ e-mail through WPconnect, the Windows Live web site, or other devices.
We have reported this issue to Microsoft, who is working on resolving the issue but has not provided an estimate for the time to resolution. This issue is not specific to William Paterson University and other Microsoft Live customers are being affected.

Brian FanningInformation SystemsWednesday May 18th- FINAL REMINDER: Internet Service Upgrade Scheduled for Friday May 20th – Sunday May 22nd
FINAL REMINDER:
Please be advised that beginning on the morning of Friday, May 20th through Sunday, May 22nd the University is scheduled to perform an Internet service upgrade that will result in an intermittent disruption of Internet traffic both inbound to and outbound from the University network.
As a result, access to University systems including but not limited to WPUNJ email, WPconnect, Blackboard, etc. will be intermittently unavailable during this timeframe. Additionally, delivery/receipt of external email may also be periodically delayed. There is a possibility that the upgrade will be completed significantly eaerlier than Sunday evening, in which case notification will be sent by email. Service will be fully restored by 12:00AM on Monday May 23rd.
If any concerns or questions exist regarding this scheduled maintenance window, please direct them to the Helpdesk at HELP@wpunj.edu.
