Who We Are
At William Paterson University, information and technology services are planned and delivered through the close collaboration and coordination of three units, Information Systems, Instruction, Research and Technology (IRT) and the Cheng Library. Collectively known as the Information Technology Services division, these units provide the campus community with the broad range of information and technology services necessary for academic excellence, student success and community outreach.
Under the leadership of the Executive Information Technology Management Team, the three units provide a shared vision, direction and management for the University’s information technology and associated services.
The Executive IT Management Team, comprised of the directors from the Cheng Library, IRT, and IS, reports to the Office of the Provost. While each unit has a specific focus, the University’s Information Technology Plan provides the strategic planning and budgeting roadmap for the Information Technology Services to work as a division. This plan is developed with input from the IT Advisory Committee which is made up of members of the faculty and administration. Standing committees including the Technology Across the Curriculum and the Banner Advisory Committee, along with ad hoc IT committees, provide input on priorities and on operational/tactical planning.
Established as a single Library and Information Technology division 1997, the three units have successfully collaborated to introduce and implement major information technology advancements. The Cheng Library, Instruction and Research and Technology, and Information Systems are committed to providing the University community with information technology services that are essential for educational excellence and student success.
