Faculty can use Bb's Groups function to divide students into groups. Groups
act like mini-course shells and student groups can participate collaboratively
by participating in virtual classroom, discussion boards and email as well as
file-sharing. Student groups can be used to encourage collaboration and
participation among students in one section, or can be used to bridge sections.
An instructor teaching two sections of the same course might choose to mount one
course shell and to divide the students of different sections into Groups. Faculty
mulling how to handle multi-section courses can use this general rule of thumb:
- Content-heavy courses which tend not to take advantage of the communication
features of Bb are usuually better sharing one course shell and dividing sections
into Groups
- Communication-heavy courses might be better off having seperate shells and use
Groups to sub-divide individual sections
- Add a Group
