At first blush you might think that the Manage Tools Menu seems very similar to the Manage Course Menu. It is. To access the Manage Course Tools area get online, access Bb and click into your course. Enter the Control Panel and click on the Manage Tools link within the Course Options area in the lower left.

In the Manage Course Tools area one may enable or disable the various major Bb tools, including Addressbook, Calendar, etc.

2. Enable Bb Tools

Some tools prove more useful than others, and many faculty choose to disable certain tools altogether. For example, because there are a number of calendars on campus, including the one that might be featured in a course syllabus, many faculty choose to reduce confusions by disabling the Bb course calendar. There is nothing wrong with this tool, but faculty are advised to use one calendar or another, and never more than one. The graphic on the left is not large enough to list all the tools in this area, which includes: address book, announcements, calendar collaborations, communication area, content area, discussion board, drop box, electric Bb, email, gradebook, groups, manual observer tools, personal information, resources, roster, staff information, student home page, tasks, and tool areas.

3. Enable Extension Tools

This area is not relevant to our version of Bb.

4. Enable Content Tools

According to Bb corp: A Content Tool is a type of content that can be added to a course. Content Tools allows the Instructor to manage the different types of content that the System Administrator has made available. On this page, the Instructor may choose which types of content may be included in the course. Content Tools that are enabled can be added to Content Areas throughout the course.
