Specific Conflict Site Information

The following web sites offer source material for the term project. Depending on the instructor's preference at each participating institution, these sites may be part of a class exercise and/or outside-class assignments. Your instructor will inform you how to use these resources.

HateWatch

This site monitors the growing and evolving threat of hate group activity on the Internet. HateWatch provides an online resource for concerned individuals, academics, activists and the media to keep abreast of and to combat online bigotry. The information found here may be offensive to some but we believe the best way to fight this cultural poison is to face it head on.

Death by Diversity

This site offers an extensive collection of news reports, analyses, and readings--most from legitimate, respected sources--that discuss ethnic conflicts, genocides, etc. in different parts of the world. This website's purpose, however, is to demonstrate in as many ways as possible that conflict is a natural consequence of diversity and that diversity therefore is bad, not good.

Contemporary Conflicts

This site uses a world map to take you to different conflict areas in the world. When you click on a particular location, you will find numerous sources to give you detailed information about that region, its people and culture, and the ongoing conflict. This is a great source for material for your term project.

Conflict Resolution Links

This web site offers many links to organizations and institutions dedicated to conflict resolution. Here you will find numerous sources of information, ideas, strategies and documents.

The Carter Center

Founded by the former U.S. President, the Carter Center is dedicated to advancing the cause of human rights throughout the world. When you get to this site, type in "ethnic conflict" and that search will bring you to a list of both general and specific information on conflicts and conflict resolution.

World Factbook

This site will give you a map and current facts (geographic, demographic, political, economic, governmental) about anyplace in the world. You can use this information as a base for studying the specific conflict area you choose for your term project.

Ethnic Conflicts Gopher

This site provides links to readings about ethnic conflicts in the Caucasus region (1988-1994), including the policies of Russia, Georgia, Iran, Turkey, the United Nations, and CSCE. If this area interests you, this is a rich mine of information.
