What You're in For
This is a Seminar introducing students to areas of specialization in writing in an advanced context, provided by close individual supervision and exposing students to kinds of analytical writing.
Our main concern will be technology: What is it? How do we work with it? How does it affect our vision of ourselves? How is it altering our notions of place and space? Reality?
The purpose is to begin to feel comfortable navigating different realities, taking the time to investigate, play, think and create: What constitutes new realities? How can we begin to define ourselves in this "brave new world"? What should we be thinking about as we recreate ouselves in the next century?
You will navigate three texts in order to describe, analyze and synthesize conditions we now find and which may effect our future; in fact, you will be creating a future or, futures: Sim City, CyberReader, and Parable of the Sower
