Each May the Race and Gender Project offers a two-day session to train new instructors for "Racism and Sexism in the United States" and to enable instructors who already have experience with this and related courses to think more deeply about their teaching. Below is an outline of the most recent session, led by Professors Wartyna Davis and Arlene Holpp Scala.

Thursday

-- Introductions: Name and affiliation. Why are you taking this workshop?

-- Definitions: What are racism, sexism, heterosexism, classism, oppression, intersectionality, identity, and privilege?
-- Teaching methodology: fact, opinion, belief.
-- Social construction theory

-- How to use film as a methodological tool
