TIPS FOR LIVING
Updated January 2, 2004
Hi -- Please note that this section is not well organized!
When
it is it will include tools, tips, recipes, and other pointers that people
have posted to the list.
QUICK & HEALTHY RECIPES
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I used to cook for a living. When
the arthritis hit I could not stand in kitchens all day long, and I became
an academic. But with the ravages of the psoriasis, the arthritis, and the
drugs used to treat both, I found I needed a healthier diet. I
recently began a low-carb way of eating, and have lost 60 pounds
in a year and a half! So I've started a LC recipe file which I have
linked below.

READING IN BED
COMING
SOON!
From: PBias@webtv.net (Patricia Bias)
Reading
in bed:
Wearing
sports braces on the wrists and giving up hard bound books for paperbacks
helps. You can rig up the "book holders" for exercise bikes
to take to bed if needed. There are gizmos that hold a book open to the
page you are reading that slip on and off. The slipping on and off is
probably more trouble than they are worth.
If
you have to give up lying down have you tried the lounge pillow? It stands
upright and has tapering wings that come forward on both sides for extra
support of the arms.
What else?
When I couldn't open the latches on the dog runs hubby fixed it so the
gates opened inward. The dogs were pushing them closed but I could push
them open w/o having to worry about the latches. That would work for other
doors/gates. Same principal.
Buying
socks a little big so they are easier to get on and off.
Using
velcro around the house where appropriate???
At
work I purchased a set of hand trucks and a few dollies for 5 gallon buckets
to cut down on lifting and carrying. I have to bring a 5 gallon bucket
into the main office to be weighed for going out UPS so I set it in the
dollie at the front door and "soccer kick" it to the scales.
This
could be fun. Anyone else?
