Established by William Paterson University in 1996, the Institute for Creative Aging ( ICA) serves as a resource in community service, continuing education, and research. The ICA serves as a bridge connecting strengths and interests of the University’s faculty and students with the expertise of older adults, professionals, businesses, health care, and other institutions and community groups. Working with public and private groups, the ICA provides a forum for the discussion of policy issues that impact the lives of older adults, agencies, and institutions that serve the population.

The Institute's Goals:

  • Strengthen the resources needed to better serve older adults and their families
  • Foster meaningful community involvement of older adults during post-retirement years
  • Develop leadership qualities in older adults
  • Promote professional development among those who work with older adults and their families
  • Address the challenges and opportunities of aging through research and advocacy
  • Foster intergenerational learning, cooperation, and service
  • Promote meaningful University involvement among older adults
