On Campus CONCERN EAP The EAP is a service for William Paterson University faculty and staff and their household members. The EAP offers confidential short term counseling and referral for problems ranging from work-related concerns to personal difficulties that affect an individual's everyday life. Trained counselors help with problems such as career issues, child care, elder care, family and workplace relationship problems, finances, health care, mental health, retirement, substance abuse, and Work/Life balance. Off Campus Compassionate Friends/National Office Offers support and understanding to families grieving the death of a child. Contact the national office for a chapter in your area for more information. Cancer Care/Counseling & Financial Assistance Programs Free professional counseling for patients and/or their family members and bereaved relatives. Helps families find appropriate home services and can provide some financial support toward the cost. Education and outreach programs provided through seminars and workshops. Support groups available. Rainbows/NJ Chapter Rainbows provides a peer support curriculum for children of various ages who are grieving the loss of a parent due to divorce, death, separation, or abandonment. Offers grief support services primarily to children and teens, also to adults and single parents.
Care Alternatives Provides palliative care (pain relief and symptom control) to terminally ill patients in their homes or in nursing homes or hospice centers. Care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, health aides, clergy, therapists, and volunteers. Provides continuing support, including bereavement services, to family members after the death of a loved one. North Jersey Counseling Centers/Randolph/Sparta Provides individual, couple, group, and family counseling. Anger management counseling. Workshops on stress reduction, anxiety, conflict resolution, building self-esteem in children, marriage and the family, separation and divorce, assertiveness training, death and dying, and crisis of middle age.
