Once your physician has determined the date you can no longer work due to the pregnancy, your Pregnancy Disability leave will begin and will be in effect until your physician has provided written notification that you have recovered from the birth. Following the exhaustion of all accumulated sick leave, you may be eligible to collect NJ Temporary Disability during your pregnancy disability leave. If you do not have sufficient earned sick time to cover your absence, you should be on an official leave of absence without pay. Being on an official leave of absence will ensure continuation of existing health benefits and group life insurance coverage. Your existing health benefits coverage will be continued (up to a maximum of 12 weeks during any 12 month period, measured forward from the first date of any FMLA leave granted within the last 12 months) while on your Pregnancy Disability leave under the guidelines of the Federal Family and Medical leave Act (FMLA). You will still be responsible for any premium sharing contributions if you have traditional health benefits or dental coverage, and you will be advised when and if any premiums are due. NJ State Family Leave Once you have recovered from your pregnancy disability, you are eligible for up to 12 weeks (during any 24 month period, measured forward from the first date of any NJ State Family Leave granted within the last 24 months) of NJ State Family Leave in order to care for your baby. Your existing health benefits coverage are continued under the guidelines of this Act and in keeping with NJ State Health Benefits Bureau regulations. Again, you are responsible for any premium sharing contributions if you have traditional health benefits or dental coverage. Child Care Leave With appropriate supervisory approval, you may elect to remain out for up to a maximum of one year in order to care for your baby. Your existing health benefits coverage can no longer be continued, but, in accordance with NJ State Health Benefits regulations, you will be given the opportunity to maintain coverage upon remittance of the full monthly premiums for your specific health plan. The above is being provided to you as general information only and is not intended as a guarantee of benefit entitlement. You must meet all Federal and State eligibility requirements in order for these entitlements to be granted. Please feel free to call Human Resources (720-2124) if you have specific questions concerning these procedures or if you require information regarding leave time for adoption purposes.
