Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor

Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor

The Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor is the Hobart Manor Revitalization Committee’s signature annual event on the first Sunday in May. Now in its eleventh year, the tea features guest lecturers addressing topics relevant to the history of the Hobart family, William Paterson University, and/or Passaic County and its inhabitants.

The 2017 tea featured Lucia McMahon, PhD, William Paterson University professor of history, who specializes in U.S. early national history and women's and gender history, and Kelley Ruffel, director for the department of Cultural & Historic Affairs of Passaic County and a multi-degreed WP graduate in history and anthropology. The topic of discussion: Unsung Heroes: Professional and Philanthropic Women of the Nineteenth Century, explored the life stories of the determined women of the nineteenth-century who made an impact on society without challenging the era’s gender conventions.
