Mission Statement

The mission of the Basic Skills Program at William Paterson University is to develop in each learner the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the attainment of academic, career and life goals. Our mission is to ensure that our students have every opportunity to be successful in college by properly assessing their level of preparedness, by offering appropriate level coursework and by encouraging student use of support systems. The program seeks to develop critical thinking, problem solving skills and strategies, and overall growth in intellectual competence.
