Academic Year 2007-2008

Academic year 2007-2008 saw the implementation of departments’ first assessment plans.  Because we wanted departments to have successful experiences with assessment, we asked them to write and assess only two or at most three assessment goals for the year, choosing a significant activity that the students they work with typically engage in.  In this way too we felt they would receive meaningful feedback on core functions of the department, which we hoped would build a culture of assessment.  Interim results were reported to the Assessment Team in March, with final reports submitted in June.  At both junctures, the Team provided constructive feedback to departments.  This helped with mid-course modifications, and was also a source of suggestions for the construction of their next assessment plans for academic year 2008-2009.
