Prevention/Education

Through collaborative efforts among various departments, the University works to prevent all forms of sexual discrimination, harassment and assault through education, awareness and skill building. Employees are to complete the following online programs offered through Workplace Answers: (1) Unlawful Harassment Prevention and (2) Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence: Title IX and SaVE Act. Additionally, employees who have been designated as Campus Security Authorities must complete The Clery Act and Campus Security Authorities program.

Through the Office of Student Development, the Campus Violence Prevention Program, and the Women’s Center, William Paterson University provides training, education and workshops on sexual misconduct awareness including but not limited to, "Not Anymore", Mandatory Bystander Intervention Training for Freshmen (“Choices”), Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Training for Peer Leaders.  The University also holds awareness events throughout the school year, including but not limited to, Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
