About OEED

The Office of Employment Equity and Diversity is responsible for monitoring University policies and procedures to ensure compliance with equal opportunity laws and affirmative action quidelines. This includes preparing and monitoring the University’s Affirmative Action Plan in accordance with federal and state laws. The OEED serves as a resource for the University community on laws and regulations relating to equal opportunity, affirmative action, nondiscrimination and harassment. Additionally, the office is responsible for regulating employment process to ensure compliance with employment laws, including overseeing faculty and professional searches and briefing search committees on procedures.

Complaint Resolution

Investigates complaints of discrimination and other forms of prohibited discrimination. Monitors and responds to internal and external inquiries concerning discrimination and harassment. Refers individuals to other University Departments for concerns outside the scope of OEED.

Education and Information

Interprets and explains equal opportunity affirmative action and related policies and procedures to staff, faculty and students. Serves as a resource for the University community on laws and regulations relating to equal opportunity, affirmative action and non-discrimination. Provides information, advice, and assistance on issues of discrimination, equal opportunity, harassment, and affirmative action.
Provides training on equal opportunity, affirmative action, non-discrimination, sexual harassment and other forms of illegal harassment. Provides educational programs on affirmative action, equal opportunity and non-discrimination issues.

Compliance with Laws

Directs, monitors, coordinates, updates, and implements policies, initiatives, and procedures associated with the university’s equal opportunity and affirmative action programs.Monitors employment process to ensure compliance with employment laws.Monitors University policies and procedures to ensure compliance with equal opportunity laws and affirmative action guidelines.Prepares and monitors the University’s Affirmative Action Plan in accordance with federal and state laws.
