MAST Program

• Math & Science Teachers Program (MAST): William Paterson University MAST Program participants will become part of a U.S. Department of Education funded project to increase America’s competitiveness in Mathematics and Science.

 

Science Endorsement Program

• The purpose of the Science Endorsement Program (SCEN) is to further prepare teachers who currently hold a valid CE or CEAS in K-5 Elementary certificate with 5-8 subject specialization in science. The program consists of five 3-credit courses and is designed to provide teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to pass the Praxis II Middle School Science test. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be recommended to the NJ Department of Education for middle school science licensure.

Honors Programs

• Biopsychology Honors Program
  The Honors Program in Biopsychology draws on newly emerging discoveries in such fields as behavior, the brain sciences, genetics, psychopharmacology and many others to unravel the biology of the mind and behavior. We were awarded two grants by the National Science Foundation to support the development of this exciting program. As all honors programs at William Paterson, biopsychology is not itself a major, but a distinctive cluster of courses that deepens, broadens and adds challenge to students' chosen majors. This program is highly recommended for students planning graduate study, including pre-medical/dental/veterinary/graduate nursing studies and, in general, for those 
  students interested in clinical or research careers. As an honors program, biopsychology is designed for highly motivated individuals.

• Life Science and Environmental Ethics Honors Program
  Life Science and Environmental Ethics Honors:  This track of the University Honors Program is located in the Biology Department.  It consists of a set of courses that expand understanding of the process of scientific investigation, exposes the student to major ethical systems and explores the interface among ethics, science, and law.  The experience culminates in an internship with an agency that deals with ethical issues in the lives of humans, animals, or with human/environment interaction.

  Theses courses are part of an NSF grant to increase the number of undergraduate students conducting research in order to prepare future scientists, technicians, teachers, and health professionals who are able to meet the challenges of an increasingly diverse and technological society.
