Bachelor of Arts Students who complete a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders & Sciences are not guaranteed admission to the graduate program. The BA program in CODS is completely separate from the graduate program. Students are welcome to apply for admission to the graduate program in their senior year. Please see below for admissions standards and procedures. Admission Freshmen Freshmen applicants with a minimum combined (Verbal and Quantitative) SAT score of 1000 may declare Communication Disorders and Sciences as their major. Transfer Students Students applying as transfers should have a cumulative GPA from their previous institution of at least 3.25 to declare the Communication Disorders & Sciences as their major. Change of Major to CODS Current students who would like to change their major to CODS from Undeclared or from a different major should have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and complete the Change of Major application (on-line) by October 1st for the fall semester and February 15th for the spring semester. There is limited capacity, so completing a change of major application does not guarantee that you will be admitted and become a CODS major. Students will be notified of the status of their change of major within four weeks of deadlines. View Program Requirements & Courses Advisement Freshmen and students who have less than 30 credits Stephanie Kuran (973-720-3913 / Kurans@wpunj.edu ) at the Advisement Center provides advisement to freshmen who declare Communication Disorders and Sciences as their major. Amanda Vasquez (973-720-2929 / Vasqueza@wpunj.edu ) provides Advisement to transfer students with less than 30 credits who would like to major in Communication Disorders and Sciences. Students in the Honors College Students in the Honors College are advised by the Honors College in their freshman year. Departmental Advisement (students with more than 30 credits) Students who have earned more than 30 credits are assigned a faculty advisor from the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences. The advisor serves as faculty representative to the student, primarily to assist in academic planning. Students must meet with their advisors at least once during each academic semester. During these meetings, the advisor and student will create a plan of study that will meet both the University's Core Curriculum requirements and the department's specific requirements. Advisors will also talk with their student advisees about their general progress in keeping their Grade Point Averages (GPAs) in line with expectations for the university and graduate school admission.
