COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND HEALTH

Communication Disorders and Sciences

Undergraduate Program

Undergraduate students can major or minor in communication disorders. Freshmen and transfer students who meet University admission requirements may be admitted provisionally to the BA/MS Accelerated Program in Communication Disorders.

Students considering the Communication Disorders major are encouraged to attend an informational meeting that is held each semester.  Call the departmental secretary, 973-720-2208, to find out when this meeting will be held in a given semester.  In addition, students are welcome to join the WPU chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA).  For information regarding meeting times, leave your name and phone number with the secretary and a member of NSSLHA will contact you.  Students who decide on this major will be assigned an academic advisor by the departmental secretary.

Formal admission into the BA/MS Program in Communication Disorders is offered  after students meet specific criteria.  Students will be required to choose a different major if they do not meet the criteria after completing 4 courses within the department.

The mission of the undergraduate program is to prepare students for graduate study in communicatioin sciences and disorders, instill an understanding of typical and atypical communication processes across the lifespan, and promote problem-solving skills. A broad liberal arts and science background provides the foundation for these objectives.
