Jean Fuller-Stanley’s research interests are in several areas broadly defined: Physical Organic Chemistry, Effective Science Pedagogy and Mentoring students through undergraduate research.
Physical Organic Chemistry: Fuller-Stanley’s research uses NMR spectroscopic techniques complimented by Computational Chemistry to study molecular structures of various chemical systems. Two current areas of interests are; (1) 29Si NMR, IR and Computational Studies of R 2SiHX type compounds. (2) 1H and 13C NMR and Computational Studies on the configuration and conformation of substituted delta-lactones.
Other Areas of Interest: Designing Chemistry and other Science courses that are Inquiry-based and are taught from an interactive student-learning rather than a content-driven approach.
Using undergraduate research as an effective mentoring vehicle to retain underrepresented minority students in the sciences.
