Its primary mission is the education of students who will serve as professional nurses in various health care delivery settings. This department offers a major in professional nursing supported by a concentration in the biological, physical and social sciences and a broad base of general education courses. Graduates of this program are awarded a bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), administered by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, to become a registered professional nurse. Nursing courses include a clinical laboratory component in which faculty guide students in the development and application of knowledge and skills in a variety of health care settings. An on-campus learning center provides a large inventory of audiovisual materials, carrel room, computer laboratory, hospital equipment, and supplies for student laboratory experiences. The Generic and Accelerated program application deadline is February 1st. Applicants are notified of the decision via U.S. Mail in eight to ten weeks.
