Department of Nursing The William Paterson University Department of Nursing Accelerated Track is a 15 month Bachelor of Science in nursing program designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline. Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in their prior degree. Students who have earned grades of C- or below in co-requisite or nursing major courses are not eligible for admission even if they have repeated the course successfully. The program requires 56 nursing course credits and 36 co-requisite course credits. Other courses may be transferred from an accredited Community College, College, or University. The Accelerated Nursing Program begins in WPU's Summer I semester (May). The application deadline is February 1st each year. There are nine pre-requisite courses which must be completed prior to beginning the nursing sequence of courses. They are:
All Nursing courses are scheduled during the daytime. The program is rigorous and requires full time study. Students are advised NOT to expect to maintain full time employment while enrolled in the Accelerated Program. Clinical laboratory courses comprise at least two full days each week during the program and during the second summer sessions 3-4 days/week.
