Northern New Jersey Nursing Education Consortium (NNJNEC) Approval Of Graduate Course Taken Within The Consortium
Overview
A student may request a course be taken at one of the accredited institutions participating in the Northern New Jersey Nursing Education Consortium. The participating institutions with graduate programs are Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician College, Kean College, the University of Medicine and Dentistry and the William Paterson University.
The Consortium institutions have pledged to share nursing education resources in the form of teaching expertise, library privileges, continuing education for faculty, and an innovative cross-registration plan which permits students from one campus to enroll at another for specialty courses which may not otherwise be available to them.
One function of the Consortium is to develop and maintain a cross-registration model whereby graduate level nursing majors may take selected courses at any of the five campuses and have their grades appear on their primary transcript.
Procedure
An approved graduate course offered by an institution participating in the Consortium can be used as a substitution for one of the existing courses in William Paterson's graduate nursing curriculum based on your adviser recommendation.
Guidelines for Cross-Registration Procedures
- Students register following the registration procedures outlined by their home school. In addition to following the registration procedures of the home school, a cross registration request form must be completed. These forms are available in the Graduate Program Office, Hunziker Wing, Room 240.
- Students, in consultation with their advisor, may select courses approved by their home institution for cross registration.
- Semester schedules/bulletins for participating schools can be obtained at the school.
- Students are considered officially registered for a course when they receive the approved cross-registration request form from the host school and they have submitted all required materials to the registrar at their school.
- Student participating in cross registration agree to abide by the academic and student policies of the host school.
- Students are responsible for compliance with all parking and security regulations of the host school. Parking information and identification badge information are posted in the semester schedule/bulletin of the host school.
