Department of Nursing

One of New Jersey's best and largest nursing programs...
Known for excellence in nursing education.

students

The mission of the Department of Nursing is to prepare generalist nurses at the baccalaureate degree level and specialists in community based nursing at the master's degree level to meet the health care needs of diverse populations in northern New Jersey. Undergraduates are prepared with a strong knowledge based in the liberal arts and sciences and a broad foundation in nursing. Extensive clinical experiences enable the graduates to incorporate rapidly changing technology and a personalized approach to the individual, family and community. Graduate education builds on the foundation of undergraduate education and provides the expertise needed for advanced prepared nurses to function in practice, education or administration. The curriculum and teaching methods are designed to develop critical thinking skills and a desire for lifelong learning. The faculty view students as partners in learning and value them as beginning and expert practitioners.
