Welcome to the Department of Public Health The Department of Public Health at William Paterson University was founded in 1973. Originally the Department of Health Sciences, the name was changed to Community Health in 1991, and most recently (2008) to the Department of Public Health to better reflect our mission. Degree programs in Public Health - the Department of Public Health at William Paterson University offers two undergraduate degree programs:
In addition, the Department of Public Health offers a minor/concentration in nutrition, provides the health courses required for teacher certification in health and physical education, and jointly offers a school nurse certification program with the Department of Nursing. Careers in public health - Opportunities to work in the field of public health have never been better. With growing interest in preventative medicine, an aging population, new and innovative behavioral research, and the increasingly complex issues of affordable health-care, career options in public health are numerous.
