CLINIC MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Speech and Hearing Clinic reflects its commitment to promoting clinical competence and ethical practices in the areas of evaluative and therapeutic procedures, preparing its graduates to interact successfully with clients and other professionals in a variety of employment settings, and ensuring the delivery of quality professional services in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology to individuals within the University and the surrounding communities.

The Speech and Hearing Clinic at William Paterson University (WPU) is a regional resource for a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for speech, language and hearing disorders including articulation difficulties, language deficits, speech and language disorders resulting from neurological impairments, voice problems, fluency disorders (stuttering), and foreign or regional accents.

Audiological services include complete hearing evaluations (pure tone, speech, and tympanometry), central auditory testing, consultation and evaluation for assistive listening devices, and hearing aid evaluation. Support services are available to ensure successful hearing aid use.

Services are available for preschoolers, school-age children, and adults.

All speech and language services and hearing screenings are provided by graduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders under the supervision of ASHA-certified and state licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

The Clinic is open in conjunction with the University's semester calendar. Diagnostic evaluations are offered during the Fall, Spring and Summer-I terms.

Students and supervisors also perform speech, language and hearing screenings at programs not affiliated with the University, such as nursery schools, Head Start Programs, and health fairs.

Services at the WPU Speech and Hearing Clinic are reasonable. Information regarding fees is available upon request.

The WPU Speech and Hearing Clinic is located in Hunziker Wing.

Parking is available in Lot 4 (enter from Pompton Road). Clients are issued parking permits upon registration.
