The
minor in Communication Disorders is appropriate for undergraduate
students who intend to pursue graduate work in this field. It consists
of 18 credits of preprofessional coursework in Communication Disorders
as well as directed General Education courses in math and science. These
courses will accelerate completion of the master’s degree and satisfy
some of the requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association for certification as a speech-language pathologist.
Students
from any major may register for these courses as early as their freshman
year. (It is also possible for students to take the preprofessional
courses without completing the minor.) All students should consult with
the Chairperson of the Department of Communication Disorders for
advisement as to the proper sequence of courses.
