DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 48 credits of graduate course work. No more than 6 practicum credits may count toward the 48-credit minimum.
  • A minimum of 375 hours of clinical practicum in addition to 25 hours of supervised observation. At least 250 hours must be completed at the graduate level through on-campus clinic and two externships in a medical and public or private school setting.
  • Completion of a thesis as part of the research courses and seminars.
  • Satisfactory completion of a comprehensive examination, which carries no course credit, is required of all students prior to graduation.
  • Students without any undergraduate preparation in communication disorders will be required to complete the following prerequisite courses. Students with an undergraduate degree in communication disorders may need to complete some of these courses if they were not part of their undergraduate preparation. This decision will be made during the initial advisement.
  • Coursework in biological science, physical science, social/behavioral science and statistics (graduate or undergraduate level).
