2
nd Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium
Saturday, April 26th,2008

You are cordially invited to the 2nd Undergraduate Symposium in the Biological Sciences at William Paterson University. This event provides an excellent forum for presentation of research findings by undergraduate students enrolled in colleges and universities in the Mid-Atlantic area.

The 1st symposium was a major success and featured both independent and group research by undergraduates from different disciplines such as Behavior, Biochemistry, Ecology, Genetics and Molecular Biology. Students and Faculty from 13 different Colleges/Universities participated and the meeting had 37 submitted abstracts/posters with 97 registrants including students and faculty. As organizers we were particularly appreciative of the high quality of the research and the enthusiasm and excitement that the presenters brought to the symposium. We are excited to offer the 2nd Annual symposium to your undergraduates for Spring 2008.

The format of the next year’s meeting will include morning and afternoon poster sessions, a keynote address by an invited speaker, lunch, and an awards ceremony. Posters will be judged by a panel of attending mentors and 1st and 2ndplace awards will be presented to the top undergraduate poster presenters in the following five categories: 1) Biochemistry, 2) Physiology, 3) Cell & Molecular Biology, 4) Genetics, and 5) Ecology & Evolution. In addition, three names will be drawn from the 1st place awards to receive an iPod at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.

Participant abstracts will be published in Symposium Proceedings.

The symposium will be held at the William Paterson University campus in Wayne, New Jersey on April 26th, 2008. Registration, refreshments, and lunch will be provided free of charge. Although free, registration is required of all attendees.

Registration and submission of abstracts must be done electronically online at:
