Project DescriptionWayne Hall, the University’s central dining facility, was built in 1958. The Student Center was built in 1972 when the resident student population was approximately 500. The buildings occupy prime sites, with the Student Center serving as the link between the upper and lower campus, and Wayne Hall at one of the most widely used entrances to the main campus. The renovation project had three components: renovation of space in Wayne Hall, renovation and expansion of the Student Center, and the construction of a new Ballroom-Meeting Room Building. The new Ballroom is the link between the Student Center and Wayne Hall. It connects those two buildings forming a Student Center Complex with student activities, meeting space, and four dining venues all under one roof. The Student Center scope of work consists of a new 3-story addition, including new entrances to the building at both upper and lower campus levels. Interior renovations create more space for student activities and clubs. On the second level part of the food service and dining areas have been modified, consolidating three food services areas into one central food court. The Student Center also received a façade upgrade, roof replacement, new building HVAC and electrical infrastructure, and the necessary ADA modifications. Wayne Hall received a façade upgrade, roof replacement, interior renovations on both floors, including a new student café, staff dining and the ability to service the new ballroom and meeting rooms from the Wayne kitchen. The HVAC and electrical equipment in Wayne Hall has been replaced. There were also ADA modifications to restrooms and entrances for barrier free access. The new Ballroom and Meeting Room building now have a 500-seat ballroom on the upper level (that can be subdivided into 6 smaller event rooms). There are 4 meeting rooms on the lower level. The building has storage and dining service rooms and is adjacent to the Wayne Hall kitchen. The Ballroom is now connected to Wayne Hall dining level public circulation area, and there is a bridge connector between the meeting rooms and the Student Center. |
