2014 COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER AND PRESIDENT’S MEDAL RECIPIENT KEVIN BURKHARDT ‘97 Kevin Burkhardt joined Fox Sports in 2013 as one of the play-by-play announcers for The NFL on Fox, and recently became a studio host for Major League Baseball on Fox. Since 2007, he has been the New York Mets field reporter, and a fill-in play-by-play voice for SportsNet New York (SNY). Prior to joining SNY, Mr. Burkhardt covered all sports for WFAN Radio since 2003, emerging as one of the station’s rising stars, serving as the beat reporter for the New York Jets, hosting talk shows, and providing updates. He previously spent two years as the afternoon sports anchor on WCBS 880 in New York and was a reporter for Time Warner Cable. A 1997 graduate of William Paterson University with a bachelor’s degree in communication, Mr. Burkhardt started his broadcasting career on campus, covering Pioneer athletic events for the University’s television channel. He also hosted “Newsline,” a twice-a-week live news show broadcast on campus and to the surrounding community. His first job after graduation was at WGHT-AM in Pompton Lakes, and he also served as the public address voice for William Paterson men’s and women’s basketball games.
