Join with the entire William Paterson University community as we celebrate Commencement 2013! The ceremony will be a combined event for bachelor's and master's degree candidates for students who have completed their degree requirements in May 2013, January 2013, and August 2012. No tickets are required for guests, and ample free parking is available.
Commencement 2013 begins at 10 a.m. in Izod Center. Both undergraduate and graduate students will process with William Paterson University faculty, faculty, and alumni. University President Kathleen Waldron will confer the degrees; students will be individually recognized by name, and congratulated by their college dean.
The Honorable Thomas H. Kean, former governor of New Jersey, will be the commencement speaker. In addition, honorary doctor of humane letters degrees will be conferred on philanthropist David F. Bolger and entrepreneur Spyros Lenas.
In addition, Faculty Recognition Awards will be presented to three faculty for their outstanding accomplishments:
- Excellence in Teaching—Maria Villar, professor of anthropology
- Excellence in Scholarship/Creative Expression—Vincent Parrillo, professor of sociology
- Excellence in Service—Stephen Shalom, professor of political science
