Department of Sociology Faculty Rosanne Martorella
Rosanne T. Martorella (Professor) received a B.A. from City College, CUNY, a Ph.D. from The New School for Social Research, and did a post-doc Fellowship at Princeton University. She teaches Sociology of Art & Culture, Principles of Sociology, and Medical Sociology. She is coordinator of the AKD Honor Society in Sociology, and the Internship Program. She has conducted scholarly research in her field, publishing Art and Business (Praeger, 1996); Corporate Art (Rutgers U. Press, 1992); The Social Organization of Work: Performers and Performances (1983); and the Sociology of Opera (1982). Several articles appear in scholarly journals. She has served as a consultant, and conducted studies for nonprofit medical and art organizations, as well as for the travel industry. Her books are widely quoted in numerous journals and newspapers worldwide, and she is an invited speaker in Europe and Asia. Active in her community, she has also served on the Boards of Nyack Hospital, St. Thomas Acquinas College, and the National Org. of Italian American Women.
