Welcome to the Psychology Department's homepage! Psychology is often defined as the study of behavior. In actual practice the study of psychology is vastly more complex and includes the systematic study of thought, emotion, cognition, perception, learning, development, personality, and interpersonal relationships at the biological, mental, and social level.

The psychology major is one of the most popular majors at William Paterson University. The major consists of 38 credits comprised of five core courses and additional courses in the following areas: developmental psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, and physiological psychology. Our psychology faculty are dedicated teachers and distinguished scholars. I encourage you to browse our website to learn more about our faculty, the major, and psychology in general.

If interested, also be sure to check out the Honors Program in Social Science, the Cognitive Science Honors Program and the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute. If you are interested in graduate study in psychology click on "Graduate Program" on the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
