Why Study LAS?

The Latin American Studies Program (LAS) offers excellent interdisciplinary preparation for international business, law, banking, criminal justice, public service, education, health care, and journalism. Students who use LAS as a stepping-stone to graduate or professional study find a wide array of opportunities because they have become proficient in several academic disciplines. Since graduate schools recruit students with diverse academic backgrounds, LAS makes an excellent choice for students hoping to go on to law school, business school, or foreign service institutes, not to mention graduate studies in journalism, communications, or international affairs.

LAS strives to advice and mentor students personally unlike programs with hundreds of students. Majors and minors have regular contacts and enjoy collaborative research opportunities with faculty. LAS majors often combine their studies with other majors or concentrations in business, fine arts, social sciences, education or the humanities.
