High School Educators:

The William Paterson University of New Jersey Department of Languages and Cultures is holding its 17th Annual Foreign Language Poetry Recitation Contest. The contest will take place Thursday, May 11, 2000 from 8:30AM to 12:30PM in Shea Center for Performing Arts. We would greatly appreciate your school's participation at these proceedings. We offer students the opportunity to recite poetry in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, and Spanish (we provide the poems). The levels challenged will be Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Native (except for Japanese and Latin). There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $10.00 per school. All application information must be postmarked no later than January 7, 2000.

If you are interested in participating in this event, please obtain the necessary information from one of the individuals listed below. All application materials must be returned January 7, 2000. We will be providing a luncheon to the teachers and judges. Please indicate in the application information whether you would be our guest.

We are always in need of judges for the contest, if you know of a colleague who would like to participate as a judge, please inform us.
