This course is a general survey of British History during the16th and 17th centuries, the era in which the Tudor and Stuart dynasties ruled the British isles. Major themes of the course will include the development of the monarchy and parliament, the Protestant Reformation, and the expansion of the British economy and state through overseas trade and colonialism.
