The Masters of Arts program in History at
William Paterson University is designed for the 21st century. Through
an innovative curriculum that focuses on global historical analysis
and the integration of information technology into historical research
and teaching, program graduates will acquire the skills necessary
to communicate historical insights in a diverse and technologically
advanced society.
The program's most distinctive feature is that
all students who complete the full thirty credits will receive training
in the most recent information technology applicable to the historical
discipline. With an emphasis on global history, the curriculum offers
a wide range of courses that reflect changes in the discipline.
Thematic courses, such as the history of crime, science, women,
and sexuality complement the traditional menu of national histories.
The flexibility of the program allows students to tailor a course
of study to fit their specific needs. After completing their subject
courses, students will complete a master's thesis to demonstrate
their skills in historical research and analysis.
