Vidya Kalaramadam

Professor • Community and Social Justice Studies

Dr. Vidya Kalaramadam is an Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies in the Department of Community and Social Justice Studies. Her research work has been at the intersection of gender, state and politics, globalization and feminist pedagogy and theory. Her book Gender, Governance and Empowerment in India, London: Routledge, explored the impact of the Indian state’s decentralization program on women’s political participation and local governance and was published in 2016. In addition to these key areas of research, Prof. Kalaramadam is actively engaged in pedagogical and feminist issues within the university to develop and present opportunities for student learning. She has received two Fulbright-Hays grants to lead NJ school teachers to India.
