The Foreign Language Requirement
William Paterson University strives to prepare students to succeed in the increasingly competitive global economy. To such end, all students are required to demonstrate competency in a language other than English by taking up to six (6) credits or demonstrating intermediate proficiency in a foreign language.
The Department Languages and Cultures offers students the possibility of:
- furthering their skills in the foreign language(s) previously learned OR
- adding a new foreign language to their skill set
Demonstrating Proficiency in a Language
Students who wish to fulfill the foreign language requirement by taking a proficiency test have the following options:
